Our May product update includes a new detection preview and improvements to our Assets page

I can't tell you just how busy May has been for the whole team at Metomic - we've been bringing in new features to make our users lives easier, and working on exciting projects that you'll hear more about over the coming months.

For now, I'm super happy to show you the latest releases from the Metomic team.

Preview your detections and get the full context instantly

Getting the full picture as quickly as possible is important when you're identifying why a violation might have happened. 

We've recently released our detection context preview, which allows users to see the additional context around detections in text-based files.

Not only can you save time by hitting the preview button to see where sensitive data may be hiding in your files, you can also proceed with the confidence that the data within is a real risk to the business. 

You'll now have a more complete picture surrounding your sensitive data, and be able to get to the heart of the problem quickly, to ensure you're finding the risks that matter. 

A new and improved Assets page

You'll see some new additions to the Assets page, both of which are really exciting for those who want to take a deep dive into the data. 

Firstly, you can now see the total number of assets with a dynamic counter that helps you get a good idea of where you are in the list.

Secondly, you'll now have better visibility of the Asset Created and Asset Updated dates on the asset row.

It means that you'll have much better visibility over your total number of assets, as well as clarity on when an asset was updated, especially when you're using the different sorting options.

The UK Government wants to keep investing in technology, but has identified a clear risk that connected places face. The new Cyber Security Playbook, which is part of the government’s £2.6 billion National Cyber Strategy, gives local authorities practical advice on how to keep ‘smart cities’ safe from cyber threats. 

If companies in the UK were to be hit by cybersecurity attacks, it could have a significant impact on the business landscape, including financial losses, reputational damage, operational disruptions and legal and regulatory consequences. It is crucial for businesses to prioritise cybersecurity measures, including implementing robust security protocols, training employees on cybersecurity best practices, regularly updating software and systems, and establishing incident response plans to minimise the impact of cyber attacks. The new playbook offers practical and accessible support for local authorities to protect themselves against would-be cyber threats.
